Nearly a year ago, I first blogged about Portable Apps. Now I’m going to once again declare: Portable Apps rock!
They are an excellent way to carry your favourite programs with you on your USB key (or other portable method; I just prefer that). I love Firefox Portable, which is just want it sounds like. I‘ve also got FileZilla Portable, Portable GIMP, Portable OpenOffice.org, and Portable Gaim.
Although I haven’t figured out how to use it at school yet (and might not be able to, thanks to the restrictions they put on the computers), it’s useful for anywhere else that I don’t have my computer with me.
I wub Portable Apps!

The school webnazi’s would catch me if i used any of those. they banned a bunch of kids last year because they had the .ico file of the FF foxs that they intended to use for a program Icon (because our teacher rocks and whe lets us customize our programs instead of leaving them as grey blobs).
You can’t get on email, message boards or even some educational sites like wkipedia (which may or may not be a good thing considering the Napoleon article once said his parents were Carmen Electra and Chuck Norris).
The programming teacher might lets us use some of these in her lab but the webnazi (whose username is “killer”) usually catchs anything you do and bans you for it if it involves opening external apps.
AH! Prortable apps are awsome!! I have a 256MB USB thumbdrive, and I crarey about 150MB of apps on me at all times.
I have Firefox, Photoshop, winamp, as well as anti virus and anti spyware stuff on me at all times, its great!
if you like Portable apps, you should check out http://portableapps.com/ witch has a lot of awsome portable apps, and http://www.pegtop.de/start/ witch is an awsome launcher. it makes it extreamly easy to access all your apps, and its easy to update.
awsome eh?
You know, I‘ve never heard of portable apps until now. Have I been under a rock? They definitely seem super convenient, even though I’ve just read a small bit about them. Something to closely inspect for sure.
