Arr. Today (Sept 19) be Talk Like a Pirate Day, me matey!
Ye must be speakin‘ like a pirate iffin’ ye want yer respect!
Avast, tomorrow is me very own birthday, wherein I be 17 Canadian years old! Aye, it feels … weird. Today at work me piratical co-worker, Kamila, brought me a shiny chocolate cake thingy with a cool blue crayon candle, and a yellow smiley balloon (hence the title of this blog, ye scallywags!).
And now, a musical interlude. Arr!
Or not.
There be not much else to tell ye. Writin‘ goes as writin’ does, what with the novel in its interminable second draft. Yarr, if this goes on any longer I be turnin’ to the grog for comfort! Yo ho ho and a cup of tea and what not.

Talk like a pirate day is maybe the best holiday made by man. I remember back in the days of about 5 years ago when myself and one other student were looked at funnily by classmates for celebrating it. Now, everyone knows about it at my school (in part by my advertising for the past 2 weeks).
The thing of it is though… Kids aren’t rally understanding the true meaning of the holiday. It wasn’t “dress like a pirate day,” It was “TALK like a pirate day.” Some folks didn’t seem to get that. So for a lot of kids it ended up being “Be a stupid moron day.” Many folks at my school were masqueading as pirates but did they talk like a salty dog? No! I wish I had dressed like a pirate and have a musket and a sword haning from my belt. Then they would have done it.
My rant is now over.
Happy birthday, I remember when I turned 17 like it was 1 month and 30 days ago. ::sigh::
