Today I went to write the “knowledge test” to get my G1 licence, and I am happy to say that I passed. So now I need to go find a school….
For those of you who don’t live in Ontario, we have a “graduated licencing” system. Basically I get a G1 by passing this test, and then I have to practice with that for 12 months (8 if I take a driving school course, which I shall) before I take an actual road test to get my G2. Then if 12 months after that I take another test and get my full G licence. Simple, no?
Welcome to Ontario.
I‘m not that excited about learning how to drive.
I mean, it’s not the best thing in the world. I’m rather terrified of damaging another car or something horrible like that. At least I got this over with, though.
The road signs were quite easy to identify; I got perfect on that. I got two questions wrong on the other test—I’ll be fine unless I have to park near a fire hydrant or drive in a city with streetcars.

I can’t drive alone; I need a licenced driver with at least 4 years experience in the passenger seat. I have to have a blood-alcohol level of 0 (which I should, being 16
) and they must have a level of under 0.05.
I’m going to be learning on our old Mazda car. We have a Kia Sportage too, but I think the car is both easier to learn and cheaper to insure.
I can’t wait to get my drivers licence… Not excited?! pfft, all the fun you’ll have before me…
…By the looks of it I shall be getting my licence well into my 17th year of life…
(but noone cares)
I got my license last october. I love driving. You’ll do fine.
Yay
Congrats!
I two I got wrong on it were about demerit points *shrugs*
*has to eventually sign up for classes**is going to young drivers*

Congrats. Sounds like the equivilant of a permit here. Do you get to drive alone? if so then that’s the difference. I had x amount of months to drive and x amount of driving hours to complete. I took my school’s driver’s ed. A nice thing to do since I got credits toward the course.
Here’s some things my teacher told us 100 times:
Hand over hand , You are the brains behind the wheel. It will do what you tell it to do.
There are more.
As to being scared. Ditto to that. I wasn’t exited either. My mother forced me to get the permit. If it had been up to her, I’d have had my permit the day of my birthday. Still it is nice to drive. Once you’re comfortable with it and you will be, its fine. What car(s) does your family have? I had to learn on 2 big vans. And I had a fender bender. No fun, but that’s the problem with big vans. But you learn from it and get better. Everyone has at least one accident some time in their life.
